chinesischer Dichter und Maler, * Qixian bei Taiyuan(Provinz Shanxi) 699, ✝ Chang'an (heute Xi'an) 759; stand trotz seiner Beamtenkarriere dem Buddhismus nahe, was sich in seiner einfühlsamen Naturdichtung in der bewussten Relativierung aller Schönheit und der Herausstellung ihrer »Leerheit« niederschlug. Seine nur noch in zahlreichen Kopien erhaltenen, die Gedichte manchmal begleitenden Landschaftsbilder machten ihn zum Vorläufer der in der Songdynastie (960-1279) zur Hochblüte gelangenden Literatenmalerei.
